At the Appointed Time

Genesis 18:13-14

13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Shalom!

May this week be fruitful to you!

In the book of Genesis 18, we see a story about how Abraham was visited by God, and Sarah, her barren wife was told to expect to carry a child next year at the age of 90 years. Yes! God can do the impossible, he can do more than what the minds of men can anticipate! Sarah was barren for 89 years, normally there is no hope for such a person. But in the previous chapter, God had promised Abraham saying : “I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will descend from her”. God even went as far as saying the name of their son and his plans for him. But remember she is 89 years old!

So during the daytime on a certain day, Abraham was sitting at the entrance of his tent. The bible says: “The Lord appeared to him near the great trees of Mamre…..Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby”. The bible says that Abraham proceeded to welcome them, and gave them shelter and food. Now, back to Sarah, she was in the tent when the visitors came. Notice that the first thing the visitors said when they sat down, was to ask for Sarah. They said: “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son! ” When Sarah heard this, she laughed in her heart ! She was too old to have a child. But God still said : “I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son. ”

God has promised you something, and it looks like time has passed and it’s too late! But Listen, At the appointed time, God will return to you! Seasons, times and circumstances are all in God’s hands. God has appointed a time specific for your promises to unfold. He himself said: “When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” He is never too early nor late. Be comforted, rest assured in his word. He who promised is faithful enough to accomplish everything he said. The bible says that He watches over his word to fulfill it; HENCE, IF HE SAID IT HE WILL DO IT. Don’t let the devil lie to you or make you think that God has given up to you. At the appointed time, Sarah gave birth to a son. In the eyes of men, it looked impossible , it was too late. But still, she had her testimony. So brethren, let us hold on to His word, at the appointed time; he will return to us.

God bless you!
