Rooted in Christ
Colossians 2:6-7
6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Shalom, People of God,
May the peace and grace of God flow within you!
We have been blessed to know Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He was God and came in the form of a man to save us from the wrath of God. We were dead because of our sins and our sinful nature; Christ cancelled all the record of charges against us, took it away and nailed it to the cross. We have been made alive with him; he marked us with a seal of his Holy Spirit for the day of redemption.
What a privilege it is to know and have Christ in our lives; this is a powerful testimony we should treasure and share with all living creatures! Since you heard the word of truth, and it has set you free I encourage you to hold on to that truth until the day of the second coming of the Lord. For we are in the last days, in which false prophets, false teachings, and deceptions from the devil are all around and in the church.
In the book of Colossians, the Apostle Paul and Timothy advised the church to be rooted and built in Christ. Rooted means being firmly implanted, stable or deeply established. A very young tree does not have firm roots; it can easily be uprooted by the wind or rain, but a grown tree with firm roots can stand storms. Same with a Christian, the more you grow in faith, and in the knowledge of Christ the Son of God, you become mature in the Lord and measure up to the full and complete fullness of Christ. A Christian who has grown to the complete standard of Christ is no longer an infant to be tossed back and forth by the waves and every wind of teaching or the cunningness of the devil. (Ephesians 4:13-14)
As we grow in faith and knowledge of Christ, we become rooted and Built up in him. Jesus said “whoever hears his words and puts them in practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock; the rains came and streams rose but the house did not fall but the one who heard his words and did not put them in practice is like a person who builds his house on sand”. (Matthew 7:24-27) The word of God is true, all-knowing and holy and leads us in the grace of God. The same grace that teaches us to reject all ungodliness and moral desires, and to live sensible, upright, godly, and live with a purpose that reflects spiritual maturity in this present age, awaiting and confidently expecting the fulfillment of our blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus. (Titus 2:11-15)
Brethren, let’s love the Lord and seek him diligently we will find him!
Have a blessed and fruitful week.
